来自多伦多的独立乐队 Metric 成军于1998年。许多国内乐迷都是通过2007年发行的《Grow Up and Blow Away》这张专辑开始了解他们的，即便是在当时所谓“独立小电”风格在国内盛行的时期，这张专辑中仍是这一时期的上乘佳作，其中慵懒舒展的女声，漂亮的合成器音色令人印象深刻。但实际上这张专辑的录音早在2001年就已经完成，因此带有更多乐队的早期特征。Metric的音乐风格在后来非常多变，从受新浪潮影响的《Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?》，到独立摇滚经典《Fantasies》（2010年朱诺奖得主），再到近几年来的电子/合成器流行元素主导，Metric一直在探索属于自己的新声音。2016年，Metric 获得朱诺奖年度组合提名。
