Shanghai is poised to begin 2016 with pop-rock and bombast in the form of Adam Lambert, who'll perform at Mercedes-Benz Arena on January 5, according to promoters AEG. You might recognize Lambert from American Idol back in 2009, when he was robbed of the winning title by somebody named Kris Allen (who?). You also might know him from the explosive popularity he found afterward, thanks to his gorgeous voice with its unusually large vocal range and his penchant for theatricality and gothic glamour.
Since losing American Idol, Lambert has sold 2.5 million albums, toured with Queen as their stand-in lead vocalist, become one of the first openly gay male pop stars to achieve mainstream success, and covered a Lady Gaga song so well it was a Billboard hit. Lambert will visit Shanghai (for the second time, his first Asia tour was in 2013) in promotion of his latest album The Original High, which dropped earlier this year to much acclaim.
Tickets are priced at RMB480-980 and go on sale starting Friday, November 12 at 2pm. You can grab a pair by calling 400-610-3721 or checking out Damai.
