Doors Open Day 作为苏格兰已举办二十七年的年度活动，旨在向公众开放一些最好的，现代的或历史悠久的建筑，最重要的是，其中一些建筑在平日是不向公众开放的。Doors Open Day 其实是全欧遗迹公开日（European Heritage Days）的一部分。European Heritage Days 每年在全欧48个国家和地区举行，总参与人数超过两千万。

格拉斯哥因其丰富的中世纪建筑遗迹以及MacKintosh设计和建筑，在1991年被评为“欧洲文化名城”，1999年被评为“建筑和设计之都”。此次Doors Open Day中，全格拉斯哥共有百余处建筑向公众开放。所开放的建筑在Doors Open Day 活动时段内对公众全部免费。

Highlights

BUILDINGS
The Anchor Line
Built as the high-class booking office for passengers travelling on the Anchor Line from Glasgow to New York, the gorgeous marble clad interior harks back to Glasgow’s hay-day. Have a look through archives of advertising posters plus photographs, letters and correspondence from Glasgow travellers back in the day.

Clydeport Building
One for the Instagram feed! A rare chance to step into the Clydeport Building- once the head offices of one of the most powerful bodies in Glasgow. Expect golden mosaics, walnut panelling and incredible stain glass windows. 

Glasgow Sheriff Court
Need we say more? Get behind the scenes at Glasgow’s Sheriff Court… including the cells…!

Dalmarnock leather works (Andrew Muirhead and Son’s)
One of the more unusual venues and the opportunity to visit Andrew Muirhead and Son’s Dalmarnock Leather Works who produce leathers for major airlines and public buildings.

West Boathouse
Home to Glasgow’s oldest rowing club, book in for a rowing taster session on the Clyde!

Citizen’s Theatre
A unique opportunity to take a guided tour around this iconic theatre and hear about the vibrant history of its Gorbals home. Explore backstage areas and get up close to hidden gems under the stage.

Govanhill Baths
The last chance to visit this beautiful 100 year old Edwardian bathhouse in its existing state before major refurbishment in 2018/19.

Tea Green Market
A unique art, design & contemporary craft market showcasing the very best from Scotland’s diverse creative talent, set in the beautiful Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival pop-up hub at St. Andrew’s in the Square. 

Talks
A packed programme of talks in our festival hub at St. Andrews in the Square taking you on a whistle stop tour across Glasgow’s history, heritage and archaeology. From finding out about the origins of Glasgow place names, to a look at Glasgow’s prehistoric past (with object handling!) to an illustrated talk from the ever popular Lost Glasgow to finding out about the city’s HERstory there’s something for everyone!

Silent movie with live accompaniment at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall

AND!
We've teamed up with Scottish Ensemble! The Glasgow-based string orchestra known for its dynamic programming and bold collaborations with other artists, will perform a series of one-off, pop-up performances offering an intriguing taste of what string instruments can do, set against some of our festival venues. From a former clay pipe factory and an iconic category A-listed building, to an Edwardian bathhouse these unique events are not to be missed!
