Do you know what festival March 8^th is? If you are from China, Russia or one of several other countries, you will answer this question with a resounding YES. If you hail from Western Europe or North America, you might not know that on March 8^th every year, the world community celebrates International Women’s Day. In China, Women’s Day is a well-established holiday on which most companies give female employees the day off. And, if you are lucky, you will also get flowers or maybe some candy as a gift from your significant other or family.

The International Club Shenyang (ICS) has started an–admittedly quite recent–tradition to honor women and the fantastic work they do differently on that special day. In 2017, the club held its first annual Women’s Day Forum with fascinating speakers from different walks of life. This year, ICS continues this lovely initiative with three very interesting ladies. Prof. Li Hui (Head of the Roicare Hospital), AgnèsAubry (expat with 20 years of experience in China) and Ciara Kamara (Blogger), whose contribution will be followed by a light lunch, all held right around the corner from the Landing East office at Le Meridian hotel.

The Speakers

Prof. Li Hui – President of Roicare Hospital& Clinics, Professor, and Ph.D. supervisor. Dr. Li has worked as a former Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, Founder of “Li Hui’s Gynecology and Obstetrics Workshop” on WeChat, and Founder of Hui Wei Women and Children's Medical Group.

Agnès Aubry is a French lady who has just moved to Shenyang in November 2017. She is a history and geography teacher with an experience of living in China for 20 years, and she has been living in 4 different cities in China with her husband and 2 children. At this moment Agnes is preparing to open a French International School in Shenyang in September 2018 with the support of the Renault Company.

Ciara Kamara is a wife, mother, freelance writer, blogger, life coach, and an expat currently living in China. Ciara has a master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations. She is the owner of Nomad Mom Life @ www.nomadmomlife.com where she writes to give moms and expat women the support and tools they need to start an online business to create a sense of purpose, build a community, and earn income.
