布兰妮成功的背后或许有许许多多的男人，但肯定少不了今天要讲的这位，他曾和布兰妮接吻过还是《In The Zone》时期的御用舞者之一，他的名字叫做Blake McGrath，你或许没听过Blake McGrath这个名字，但是你一定看过一些他的作品。

比如前段时间很火Lady Gaga《The Cure》的编舞视频。

Blake McGrath是一名顶尖级的舞者，是加拿大最大舞蹈活动VIP Dance Events的CEO，舞蹈风格偏Jazz Funk和Contemporary。

与包括Britney Spears（Me Againt the Music音乐录像带）、Janet Jackson（So Excited音乐录像带）、Kylie Minogue（Right Here Right Now音乐录像带）、Mariah Carey（百事可乐Pepsi商业广告）等众多Diva同台表演过。

他还是一名演员，参演过奥斯卡获奖影片《芝加哥》（Chicago）、托尼奖获奖音乐剧《吉屋出租》（Rent）、畅销小说改编电影《鸡皮疙瘩：远离地下室》（Goosebumps:Stay Out of the Basement）等。

不仅如此，他还是一名歌手，最近发布了自己的首张个人EP《Vintage Tomorrow》，Dolance小编有幸采访到了这位从小就崇拜的三栖艺人并与男神探讨了音乐和舞蹈方面的内容。

Q&A

Q:How did you get started dancing? 

是什么样的契机令你开始跳舞的？

Age 5, my older sister started to dance and my mom would play her recital tapes. I would make all different moves.

5岁的时候，我的姐姐开始跳舞，我的妈妈会放一些她的表演录像带，我会跟随我姐姐的表演录像带起舞。

And my mom watched me and I would mimic them so well. So she took me to a jazz class.

我妈妈看我模仿的非常棒，就带我去上爵士课。

 And the dance teacher said don’t ever let him get out of dance. Cause one day he’ll be a star.

老师看到我跳舞之后说绝对不能让这个小男孩停止跳舞，因为有一天他会成为一个明星。

Q:Describe your first dance experiences.

描述一下你第一次跳舞是啥样子。

I can’t  remember that all, but I guess I know I loved it and I was sure really rambunctious, I’m crazy. I remember I was into everything at age 5.

我记不起来了，我猜想我那时一定非常喜欢跳舞，一定非常激动，我记得在五岁的时候我对任何事情都很感兴趣。

 Q:What’s the most-played song on your playlist?

你循环最多的歌曲是哪一首？

Q:You are the CEO of VIP Dance Events, the biggest dance events in Canada, why do you hold these events？

你是加拿大最大的舞蹈活动VIP Dance Events的首席执行官，当时举办这个舞蹈活动的初衷是什么？

For many different reasons, I love to get back to the Canadian dancers and bring all of my friends and superstar choreographers across the border to give them incredible classes.

有很多原因，我想给加拿大的舞者们提供一个平台，让这些优秀的舞者和我的朋友还有一些巨星编舞师聚集在一起探讨舞蹈。

I also worked with childrens with foundations where we sponsored kids for every event and make their wish come true. 

我还与儿童基金会合作，在那里我们为每个孩子提供了活动的赞助，并使他们的梦想成真。

So that's really really powerful to me and I love the charity aspect of it. And I love to go home and see my mom and dad and having that to be in my home base. I think that's really special.

所以这个活动真的对我来说很有意义，我喜欢做慈善的那一方面。举办这个活动就让我置身在家里一样，我觉得这真的很特别。

Q:Who’s your dance crush？

你最崇拜哪位舞者？

Brain Friedman， for sure. Brain is the reason why I am here today.

Brain Friedman，绝对是他，他成就了现在的我。

Because he was the one dancer when my eyes were like(Emoji) I have to do that.

正因为他，为我打开了舞蹈世界的大门，让我知道必须跳舞！

When I saw him on Britney Spears Show ‘Slave 4 U’(There is a snake on Britney) And I saw him and thought that’s who I wanna be one day.

当我看到他出现在了布兰妮2001年MTV音乐录影带大奖《Slave 4 U》的现场表演上（布兰妮头挂蛇跳舞的那个经典现场)，这就是我未来想要成为的人。

So I have followed him long his path and career. He said that if you wanna be like somebody, you figured out how they did it, why they did it and you followed their moves, their steps, you go after it, that’s what I did.

我一直追随他的脚步，Brain曾经说过如果你想像某个人一样，你要弄清他是怎么做到的，为啥那么做。你要不断追随他的动作和舞步，你要不停地紧跟，我就是那么做的。

Q: What was your favourite dance routine? 

你最喜欢的编舞作品是哪一个？

I think my favourite class video is probably ‘Swish Swish’. So much fun, I just loved all of the dancers came to support me in that class.

我最喜欢的课堂编舞视频很可能是《Swish Swish》，在这节课上很多舞者支持了我，氛围特别好。

 I love the ‘instead’ choreography, that’s probably something my favourite.

我还喜欢我的单曲《Instead》的编舞视频，这些或许是我的最爱。

Q:What is most challenging about being a dancer? 

作为一名舞者最大的挑战是什么？

Right now, I’m very bless to being in this position.

I work hard to brand my name. It’s so beautiful to be able to come out and to meet different people and dancers, and to experience different cultures.

目前，我非常享受成为一名舞者，我非常努力地让更多人了解我，能够去世界各地接触不同的人和舞者，体验不同的文化，我感到非常荣幸。

It was very different when I was 18 and just moved to L.A. It's so struggling for dancers to find their path.

it’s so hard a couple years ago.

这和我在18岁刚搬到洛杉矶的时候截然不同。在那时，对于舞者找到自己的道路是非常困难、极具挑战性的。

But once you get in here, you never stop taking classes. Up next morning to work that hard.

你来到洛杉矶，你需要不断的上课，第二天一大早还要继续努力奋斗。

For me I love being a dancer right now. I can’t say anything is really hard. 

对于我来说，现在作为一名舞者是非常享受的，我不能说有什么困难。

I was just saying maybe the traveling schedule. I’m looking for more of balance right now. So I can get more me-time. That’s probably the hardest things.

我只能说也许是旅行时间安排吧，如何去平衡旅行时间这样我可以得到一些自己的时间，这或许是最艰难的事情。

I basically think about what message I wanna say and said it.

我基本上会想我想传达的，试图让人们得知的信息。

I’m trying to let people hear, make them feel joyful, hopeful and Self-love.

让人们感到愉悦、希望和自爱。

That’s my main idea for concept and create version.

我把这些结合起来，这就是我的创作过程。

Q:What was the most embarrassing onstage moment?

你在舞台上最糗的经历是啥？

When I was 10, I throw up on stage. Literally like throw up. I did that for like two years. We couldn’t  figured out why and I didn't know I could performance on stage for the rest of my life.

在我10岁的时候，我上台会呕吐，大概持续了俩年，我无法得知原因，我不知道以后我还能否在舞台上表演。

So I went to see a doctor. He asked me to breathe regularly on stage and actually I was holding my bearh all this time and I got so sick. Once I concentrate on my breath, I never had that issue again.

于是我去找医生寻求解决方法，医生叫我要在表演时控制呼吸，事实上我一直屏着呼吸所以非常难受。一旦我把精力集中在呼吸上，我再也不会上台呕吐了。

Q:What was the most memorable experience you’ve ever had while on tour as a traveling choreographer?

作为一名旅行舞者，最令你无法忘怀的经历是啥？

Honestly everywhere I visit was so incredible to take with me. I learned so much in different culture.

说实话我去到每个地方都能遇到一些宝贵的经历，我学到了很多不同的文化。

And It’s so humbling that people go out their ways to do little things, like flowers in the airport. It’s just so beautiful and also, there‘s so many little things that I can’t take away.

人们为我做了很多事情，像粉丝接机送我鲜花这些事情都无法让我忘却，是我最宝贵的回忆。

Q:Could you tell me about the story behind your first EP《Vintage Tomorrow》Why do you give this name？

你能告诉我你的首张EP《Vintage Tomorrow》背后的故事吗，为什么叫这个名字？

When I first started to wanna do music again, I wanna to get back to some old sounds, like the stuffs when I grew up with early 80s, just like old school record, even like beach boys, just stuff that was vintage really to a lot of people.

当我开始想制作音乐的时候，我想追溯到那些复古的音乐，像是我成长时期的那段音乐，例如80年代早期的怀旧唱片，像Beach Boys，就是对很多人怀旧的东西，这就是Vintage的含义。

And tomorrow I still want to be current and modern, we kinda fused a lot of sounds together and a lot of diffrent productions whether like bruno marz influences then again, beach boy influences. 

Tomorrow的含义是我仍想活在当下，这张专辑混合了很多不同的制作和声音，像是Bruno Marz音乐对我的影响到Beach Boys音乐对我的影响。

It’s just all kind of, like different miss-mash of certain genres and also ages of music.

这张EP是一张特定音乐类型的混合还有许多有年代感的音乐。

 Q:What are your goals for the future?

你未来的目标是什么？

Music. I love dancing and I love choreographing, I will always like them.

音乐，我喜欢跳舞和编舞，我会一直喜欢下去。

I always fused dancing with music and I really do wanna develop my voice more.

我经常把音乐和舞蹈混合在一起，我真的更想把重心放在歌唱上。

Gods also leading me to do Christian Music, try to do more worship music and into more charity work.

Having gratitude is beautiful thing.

上帝引导我去制作基督教音乐，去做一些礼拜音乐，去做更多的公益活动，心怀感激是最美好的事情。

Blake McGrath从5岁开始跳舞，18岁高中刚毕业的他就搬到洛杉矶开启了职业舞者的生涯，19岁就在奥斯卡最佳电影《Chicago》扮演一名舞者。

看到Brain Friedman出现在2001年布兰妮的现场表演上励志成为和他一样的人，仅花了不过2年不到的时间，2003年20岁的Blake实现了自己的梦想，出现在布兰妮与麦当娜的经典合作《Me Agaisnt the Music》的音乐录像带之中。

如果说《Slave 4 U》是布兰妮舞蹈的代表时期，那么《Me Against the Music》则是布兰妮舞蹈的巅峰，布兰妮的成功也离不开Brain Friedman和Blake McGrath这些优秀舞者的精彩演绎，

All my people in the crowd Grab a partner take it down，奠定了布兰妮舞池天后的地位。

2004年，Blake又成为了布兰妮黑玛瑙巡演（The Onyx Hotel Tour）的御用舞者之一，甚至还与布兰妮激情舌吻。

Blake是个追梦者，2005年的美版《舞林争霸》第一季为他打开了知名度，让大家得知有这么一位优秀舞者的存在。看过第一季这个Solo视频的有谁能忘记这就是Blake McGrath呢？

现在他将以歌手的身份在自己追梦的道路上越走越远，Blake也向Dolance小编透露了今年12月即将发布第二张EP《Me I am Blake McGrath》的消息。其中之前就发布的单曲《Instead》也将收录其中，这歌写的是Blake的前段感情，对于这首歌Blake是这样回答的。

I have an EP called 'I am Blake McGrath'. That’s what’s coming out this december. 

我有张EP叫《I am blake McGrath》会在12月发行。《Instead》会收录在这张EP中。

‘Instead’ wasn’t written about my ex, it was written about me. It was about how I could see myself wanting to be a better me and choosing the best part of me, coz the life that I feel that I was l living, it wasn’t true to my higher self. 

《Instead》写的不是我的前任，《Instead》写的是我自己。是关于我如何成为更好的自己，选择自己最好的一面，我想成为更好的自己，过去我没有对自己负责，没有选择最好的自己。

So I was saying, choose me instead with. Blake choose your best-self, you need let go of your old-self. So that’s actually what the song is all about.

所以我在这首歌里是想表达Blake选择最好的自己，你应该迈步向前，学会自爱，这就是这首歌想要表达的东西。
