新西兰弦乐四重奏

        他们的光辉历程包括：在伦敦威格摩尔音乐厅成功举办了多场音乐会，在纽约和华盛顿的国会图书馆成功举办了音乐会。新西兰四重奏录制了大量唱片，涵盖了诸如门德尔松、巴托克、拉威尔、德彪西、舒伯特、德沃夏克、沃尔夫、贝尔格以及大量新西兰作曲家的作品。他们目前已与拿索斯公司签约，录制勃拉姆斯系列作品。

       自1991年以来，新西兰四重奏一直是新西兰维多利亚大学音乐学院的驻校乐团，几位成员作为副教授任教于此。每位成员都因为新西兰音乐事业作出的突出贡献而获得了MNZM大奖。

Since 1987 the New Zealand String Quartet has been New Zealand’s leading chamber ensemble, with a distinguished record of international touring success. The current members of the ensemble have been making music together for over 20 years, an achievement enjoyed by few others in the field. Much-loved by audiences at home and around the world, the Quartet performs over eighty concerts to popular and critical acclaim each year.

Career highlights have included highly-praised debuts at London’s Wigmore Hall, the prestigious Frick Collection in New York and in Washington’s Library of Congress. The Quartet’s extensive discography includes Mendelssohn, Bartók, Ravel, Debussy, Beethoven, Schubert, Dvorák, Wolf, Berg, Székely and numerous New Zealand composers. Their latest CD release features chamber works by Lilburn and they are currently engaged in recording a three-CD Brahms set for Naxos. 

The ensemble has been Quartet-in-Residence at the New Zealand School of Music at Victoria University since 1991, where they are Associate Professors. The thre long-serving members have been awarded the MNZM honour for services to music in New Zealand.

Born in Ithaca, New York to German parents, Helene Pohl spent her childhood on both sides of the Atlantic. At 17 she was accepted for tertiary study at the Musikhochschule Cologne. She continued her studies with members of the Cleveland Quartet at the Eastman School of Music and at Indiana University with Josef Gingold.

As first violinist of the San Francisco based Fidelio String Quartet (1988-1993), Helene performed extensively in the USA, Germany, England, Italy and South America. The Fidelio Quartet was prizewinner in the 1991 London International String Quartet Competition and quartet in residence at both the Tanglewood and Aspen Music Festivals.

Helene joined the New Zealand String Quartet as first violinist in February 1994. In 2001 she became Artistic Director, with fellow quartet member Gillian Ansell, of the Adam Chamber Music Festival. In 2014 she was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for her outstanding services to music in New Zealand.

      Monique Lapins在6岁开始学习Suzuki小提琴教程，以后在澳大利亚国家音乐学院跟随威廉·亨利斯教授(William Hennessy)学习，以及在Yong Siew Toh音乐学院随钱舟教授学习。

Monique Lapins began her violin studies at the age of 6 with the Suzuki method and continued her studies at the Australian National Academy of Music under William Hennessy, and at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music under Professor Qian Zhou. 

As a chamber musician, she has twice been a finalist in the Asia Pacific Chamber Music Competition and has participated in chamber music programmes and festivals in France, the Czech Republic, Holland, Japan, Hong Kong and Australia and at the prestigious Open Chamber Music Seminars in Prussia Cove in the UK. 

A former Emerging Artist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Monique has toured extensively in collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra Collective, the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed under the baton of Seiji Ozawa in Japan and under Philippe Herreweghe in France.

Monique plays a 1784 Lorenzo Storioni violin kindly on loan from David Duncan Craig and the Lily Duncan Trust. 

       在伦敦任职三年后，她于1987年加入新西兰四重奏团，先后任第二小提琴、中提琴。2001年，与重奏组成员吉莲·安塞尔一同担任亚当室内乐音乐节的艺术总监。2008年获新西兰杰出贡献勋章。

Gillian Ansell, born in Auckland, made her concerto debut as a violinist with the Auckland Philharmonia at the age of 16.At 19, an Associated Board Scholarship took Gillian to the Royal College of Music in London for 3 years to study violin, viola and piano. She then won a German Academic Exchange (DAAD) scholarship for further study in Germany at the Musikhochschule Cologne with Igor Ozim and the Amadeus Quartet.

After working professionally in London for three years she returned to New Zealand to become a founding member of the New Zealand String Quartet in 1987. She was second violinist for two years before taking up the position of violist of the group.  

In 2001 she became Artistic Director, with fellow quartet member Helene Pohl, of the Adam New Zealand Chamber Music Festival.

In 2008 she was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for her outstanding services to music in New Zealand.

Rolf Gjelsten joined the New Zealand String Quartet in May 1994. He began cello studies in his native city Victoria, Canada, with James Hunter and Janos Starker at the age of 15. At 22 he became the youngest member of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. 

Rolf returned to North America to study with Zara Nelsova which led to further study with the members of the La Salle, Hungarian, Vermeer, Cleveland and Emerson string quartets.

As a member of the Laurentian Quartet for almost a decade he toured internationally, made five CDs and taught cello at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. He was also a member of the New York Piano Trio.

Rolf furthered his studies from 1990 with the great Casals protégé Bernhard Greenhouse at Rutgers University, where he received his doctoral degree in cello.

In 2014 Rolf was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for his outstanding services to music in New Zealand.

       新西兰籍/中国作曲家，新西兰作曲家协会会员。现为浙江音乐学院特聘教授。毕业于四川音乐学院，获音乐（作曲）学士学位、留校任教。后就读于新西兰维多利亚大学音乐学院，随杰克﹒波蒂（Jack Body）教授继续深造，获最高荣誉硕士（作曲）学位，与哲学（音乐）博士学位（Ph.D）。

       九十年代以来，他的作品在国内电台和重要音乐刊物上发表，并在国内和国际作曲比赛中获得了多项奖项。曾参加2002澳大利亚墨尔本国际艺术节、新西兰威灵顿2007南太平洋音乐节、香港2007国际现代音乐节（ISCM）、中国北京2009中央音乐学院世界音乐周，以及2011年在台北举行的第二十九届亚洲作曲家联盟亚太音乐节。

Dr. Shen Nalin (Composer，Professor)

Born in southwest of Sichuan, in 1983, Shen Nalin studied composition at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music with Prof. Gao Weijie and Yao Yirang. In 1987 he graduated with an honor, and taught in the conservatory of Music as a lecturer. During the early 1990s he was active in radio, film and television. In 1999, He studied at the School of Music at Victoria University of Wellington with Jack Body, and graduated in 2001 Master of Music in composition with Distinction. And he also graduated Ph.D in 2010. He has recently been appointed Professor of Music at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music in eastern China.

He has composed chamber and orchestral music for piano, strings, orchestra, voices and compositions using Chinese instruments, influenced by traditional Chinese music. Shen Nalin has received awards from China, New Zealand and the US. His compositions had been performed at the 2002 Melbourne International Arts Festival, the Asia Pacific Festival in Wellington 2007 and the ISCM-ACL World Music Days 2007 in Hong Kong, as well as The World Music Week 2009 in Beijing Century Conservatory, and 29th Asian Composers League Festival 2011 in Taipei and 2015 in Melbourne Composers’ League new chamber Music concert.
