Jenny SAA
Jevon President
SAA Jenny welcomed all audience, with her warm smile and delicious fruit. President Jevon kicked off the meeting in an unusual way. After welcoming all the members and guests present, he shared with everyone that some choices could influence many people such as the choice made by Dr. Ralph Smedley to found Toastmasters in California, while others could be very personal, such as whether to join a Toastmasters club. Then Jevon asked everyone to share with the person nearby about a major choice he or she made in life. It turns out that every choice demonstrates who we are and what kind of person we want to be.
Joan Cui
Ranran
Rick,Li
Audrey Chen
Elegant TME Joan Cui, our former President, joked about different choices we made in our life. We can choose to play cell phone or video games at home, or we can choose to join a Toastmasters meeting. She was pleased that everyone made a wise choice tonight to come to our PS club for inspiration. Her three helpers introduced their roles respectively. When it comes to the most meaningful choice made in 2017, Timer Ranran’s answer is to be an early bird; Ah-counter Rick Li, a professional banker wearing suit and tie, ran half marathon in 2017, and the Grammarian Audrey Chen was glad she made lots of investment in stock market.
Mandi Wang
Table Topic session
As TTM of the meeting, the beautiful girl Mandi Wang shared her insights on choices and invited 5 speakers for the interesting questions she prepared.
1
Rick Li
Question 1:
A choice you regret?
After saying that we need to think twice when making a choice, he said the choice he regretted was to raise up his hand for this question. So hilarious answer!!!
2
Chris Chen
Question 2:
The best choices you made
Chris told us how he overcame difficulties in joining Qingtao beer and become a great salesman. This is the best choice he’s ever made.
3
Alex Wu
Question 3:
Do you think more choices cause anxiety?
He believe many choices give people more options and they may hesitate what choice they should make. That surely cause anxiety.
4
Steven Shen
Question 4:
Would you choose to change your gender if you have a second life?
Steven first asked the audience:” if you were me, will you change the gender?” His answer is definitely no. He feels satisfied with his life and doesn’t want to change his gender no matter what. Over years, he grew from a boy to a man, then to a father. When he took his daughter to Baba Mama Toastmasters club, and delivered a speech, his daughter really admired him and said she loves him. Therefore, if Steven has a second life, he wants to be a man again, being a great man and an awesome father.

Jewel Zhu
Question 5:
Will you sacrifice one person to save 10 people’s life?
This question reminded Jewel of a movie. She will not sacrifice anyone’s life to save others because she believe every human life is precious and we don’t have rights to deprive anyone’s life. If she can choose, she’d rather to sacrifice her own life to save others’ life. What a profound and insightful reply it is. This wonderful speech won Jewel the Best TT Award!!!

Prepared Speeches
Speaker name: Jenny Zheng, TM
Speech title: Yummy in Nanjing Road ,P3
Evaluator:Amy Shi ,CL
Do you know what delicious food are available on Nanjing Road? Jenny guided us to walk by the best restaurants and their house specials. 老大房、黄龙泰、老盛昌汤包、上海市第一食品商店. During the speech, a girl in the audience nearly fainted because she didn’t have dinner yet and the speech made her hungrier. Actually, watching those mouth-watering pictures made everyone hungry. I guess it will be more wonderful if Jenny can bring and share some yummy food with us during her speech
Evaluator:Amy Shi, CL
Good points: Amy praised the speech that not only inform but also inspire. The pictures were well prepared, showing Jenny did a thorough research.
Suggestions: 1. More interaction with the audience.
2. It will be better if a conclusion can be made about what stores and food you introduce.
Speaker name: Wendy Ma, TM
Speech title: My Trans-Siberian Dream, P8
Evaluator:Rocky Shen, DTM
A little girl travelled to Mongolia and Russia by train. On the train, she met a broker who was very sloppy. He threw a bag to the girl and told the conductor that the bag belonged to the girl. Later on the girl got to know the bag contained illegal items that the man carried to Russia to sell for a living. Then they began to talk and became friends. Wendy was interested in this story and willing to try the same journey the little girl took. She embarked the longest train journey in the world, from Beijing to Moscow and then Saint Petersburg, via Mongolia. The scenery along the journey was breathtaking, crystal blue lake, lust forest and wonderful wildlife. Besides the gorgeous landscape, Wendy made a lot of friends. One anecdote taking place during the trip was her foreign friends got off the train at a station to buy something, but failed to come back before the train departed. The funny thing is the guys rented a car and chased behind the train. And finally after three days, they made it and got on the train again!!! In the end, Wendy encouraged us not to get stuck in our routine, but to go and explore the wonderful outside world.
Evaluator: Rocky Shen,DTM
Good points:
1. Eye-catching pictures to grab attention.
2. Enhance the story-telling by using vivid words.
3. Using multiple visual aids such as the projector and the prop: a can of Qingdao beer
Suggestions:
1. Use a laser pointer to avoid disturbing your stage movement
2. Pay attention to eye contact with the audience.
Speaker name:Donnica Qing, TM
Speech title: Behind the change by Donnica Qing, P10
Evaluator: Steven Shen,ACB/CL
Donnica started her speech by joking about her mentor Steven. When Steven told her about his goals-- morning reading, joining speech contests. She didn’t think he was serious. However, she witnessed how Steven initiated morning reading in the club’s wechat group and persisted every morning. She observed how Steven made tremendous efforts in competing speech contests. Now Donnica views him as her role model and admires Steven for the amazing changes he’s made. Then she began to make changes in her life, running in the gym, finishing her CC before Chinese New Year as planned. Although she got sick and lost her voice, she still came and committed her plan. You can cheat others, but you cannot cheat yourself. You can fake a smile, but you cannot fake your feelings. Keep your promises and be true to your heart. What a marvelous inspirational speech!
Evaluator: Steven Shen,ACB/CL
Good points:
What is really inspiring is Donnica’s attitude. Although she lost her voice due to sickness, she still came to finish her P10 speech. The act itself is a great display how determined she is to stick to her goals. You persuade others through your brain using logic and reasoning, but you inspire others through your heart.
Suggestions:
1. Using more body language, e.g. showing how exhausted she was during 10km running
2. In the ending part, it is better to step forward when calling for action.
It is awesome P10 speech, the most impressive speech tonight! Also big congratulations to Donnica on completing her CC journey, a big milestone in Toastmasters!
