The City of Ember

The City of Ember is a very interesting book Ember was built as the last refuge for humans. But two hundred years later, supplies are running out. In only a matter of time, Ember shall be plunged into darkness. The main character Lina knows something is wrong as well as her friend Doon. The mayor is absolutely no help whatsoever.

I like this story because it is suspenseful, adventurous, also mysterious. Every single important person has a unique personality. Doon would rather work in a muddy tunnel that could kill him instead of working on land; Lina prefers running everywhere on land; and so much more.

Ember was built by the “Builders.” The builders had a message for the Ember folk, but the 7th mayor lost it, so the mystery of the message starts. Also the jobs the children in Ember are selected to do are quite interesting. Timekeeper is one of them. Timekeeper sounds pretty weird according to Lina, “No one knows what day it actually is; it could be Year 249, 250 or even 248. I also remember it was Wednesday the 28th for 3 days in a row because the current timekeepers forgot to change the time.” A job of keeping time, sounds interesting right?

I think this book is not only interesting, but funny and unique. If you like action-packed mystery books, you’ll LOVE The City Of Ember.
