Gaucho是美国著名JazzRockFusion乐队Steely Dan的第七张录音室专辑,发行与1980年,11月21。已经是38年前的专辑了。这张专辑录制超过一年,有42个大师级的音乐家参与,很多是大家耳熟能详的人物。
比如吉他手Larry Carlton,Steve Khan,Mark Knopfler.贝斯手,Anthony Jackson,鼓手Steve Gadd.萨克斯 Michael Brecher等。
1981年获得格莱美最佳录音工程奖(won the 1981 Grammy Award for Best Non-Classical Engineered Recording.)
在乐队唱片中,很少见如此强大的阵容和如此耗时的录音。在录音的时候乐队成员Walter Becker(另外一个成员是Donald Fagen)。还出了车祸,只能在医院用电话交流,而且他的女友由于吸毒过量死于公寓,Becker被指控介绍吸毒,要求他赔偿1750万美元。
这张专辑有复杂的编排,抓耳的律动和旋律,乐器演奏非常精彩。现在采样时代来临,精湛的乐器演奏在流行歌中是越来越少。我同时热爱摇滚乐和爵士乐所以这样的专辑对我来说不可多得,值得细细品味,我想对于大家来说,这么费心的专辑也一定得好好听听。
乐队在鼓手录音的时候非常挑剔,鼓手Jeff Porcaro说:“从中午开始我们练了一遍又一遍,下午吃饭后回来录音,他们搞得像我这辈子就靠这首歌生活了似的,总之不给你任何的空闲时间,整个晚上就是为了这首歌的鼓”。
鼓手Bernard Purdie.在歌曲Babylon sisters演奏了标志性half-time shuffle beat。主打歌Gaucho的鼓是从46个不同版本中来挑选。整首专辑的鼓演奏非常精彩,律动很棒。
Keith Jarrett在歌曲发行以后控告他们在Gaucho中抄袭了他的歌曲Long As You Know You're Living Yours。不过Fagen并没有抵赖,说KJ的这首歌对他影响很深。所以歌曲的这首歌的作曲人加上了Keith Jarrett。
对比一下确实很像。不过这样就算被抄袭......那国内的好多流行歌岂不是更得写别人的作曲名字。看来美国在这方面的版权意识确实很棒。
