The Beijing College Student Film Festival is special since it allows college students to determine which films receive its prizes. The 23rd edition of the festival wrapped up at the Olympic Sports Center on May 8, and Bai Baihe won Best Actress in recognition for her performance in Go Away, Mr. Tumor (《滚蛋吧！肿瘤君》). In her acceptance speech, the actress credited her win to Xiong Dun, the late cartoonist whose fight with cancer inspired the film. “Bravery is the key word of this night. Let us thank Xiong Dun for leaving her dauntless and optimistic spirit with us,” Bai said.

Sina Entertainment contacted the show’s staff and found out that Zhang passed out because of his grueling schedule. He was busy preparing a concert, shooting a film and promoting charity events while filming the TV show. Zhang insisted on returning to shoot the scene after he woke up.

Actor Wen Zhang was accused of being a negative role model, after a legal show on Beijing TV reported that Wen smoked at a restaurant with “No Smoking” signs. Beijing began imposing China’s toughest ban on public smoking in June 2015. The Beijing Association on Tobacco Control required Wen to issue a public apology after the infraction. Facing mounting public pressure, Wen had to eat humble pie and apologize on internet. “I accept the criticism and will be strict with myself,” he wrote on May 8.
