2005年《滚石》为了它的500大专门出了本书,汲取了一些社会上的意见对原始榜单进行了微调。2012年,它又请了人来重新票选了一遍滚石500大,重新加入2000年后一些佳作,产生新版500 强,刊登于2012年的杂志上。无论十年间后面专辑的排名有了多大的变化,前20大专辑的排名始终没有改变过。
